The Trakehner stallion weekend took place February 4/5 at the Westfalian Horse Center in Munster-Handorf, and welcomed an unprecedented number of enthusiastic international spectators who attended from eight countries.

In the final reckoning, three out of 10 stallions presented were licensed, and one Thoroughbred was recognized. The three-year-old Hirtenstern (Hirtentanz x Impetus x Herzruf, bred and owned by Ralf Budt, Ahlen), is a large-framed, sporty stallion with good free jumping and an excellent trot and canter. He was subsequently sold to Croatia, but will remain in Germany for the time being for sporting promotion.

From Danish Trakehner breeding and owned by Steffen Madsen, Roennede, Denmark, the three-year-old Monroe’s Euromax (Preussen Party x Champus x Schwadroneur) is a wonderful type with a beautiful side view, good walk and canter, and consistently active hind leg. He will be staying with his owner.

The three-year-old Berlioz (Zauberdeyk x Heuberger x Suchard) was bred and is owned by Monika Mittermeyer, Schwielochsee. In addition to three excellent basic gaits, he carries a stand-out pedigree, with licensed stallions and numerous S-successful sport horses on both the paternal and maternal sides. The recognized Thoroughbred stallion is the seven-year-old Waugh xx (Rip Van Winkle xx x Monsoon xx x Kingmambo xx), who was successful in flat racing, and excelled in free running with striking mechanics in the sweeping basic gaits. He is owned by the Main and State Stud Marbach, Gomadingen, and expands the lot of refiners for riding horse breeding in that region..
