Scharnhorst was approved at Neumünster in 1972 and stood at Gestüt Albfuehren until late 1977. He was imported in September of 1977 by Olympic Team member Edith Master who had been riding him in Germany for a few years. While successfully competing at Grand Prix dressage, Scharnhorst was allowed to breed only a few select mares, and only if their cycling schedules didn't interfere with his competitions. Inspection comments: A gray stallion with a highly interesting, valuable pedigree that includes such famous stallions as Abglanz, Pregel and Famulus. The stallion is noble, expressive, with a good neck and head, good shoulder, clearly defined withers, elastic leg joints. He moves with very good ground cover in all phases, also with push from behind, with a slight external rotation in the hocks hardly being noticeable. (Trakehner Verband Stallion Book) He had one European Approved Son: La Paz (FRG)
