Donauschimmer was approved at Neumünster in 1971. In 1972 he was the highest scoring 3-year-old at the Adelheidsdorf 100-day test and stood at Trakehner Gestüt Hunnesrück, FRG. The following year he stood at Trakehner Gestüt Rantzau, FRG. From 1974 to 1976 he stood in Denmark. In October of 1976 he was imported by Dr. David & Pat Goodman and stood at their Wonderland Farms until his death in 1987. His offspring won him the Get of Sire Class at the prestigious 1981 Dressage at Devon breeding show. Donauschimmer sired 1 European approved son: Sonnenglanz, and 2 ATA approved sons: Cäsar and Lenzsturm. Comments from German Trakehner Stallion Book: Outstanding in his way of going in all three paces; supple and always cadenced in every phase. His overall appearance is still undeveloped and lacks distinction. The stallion has only a medium strong foundation which probably comes from his Thoroughbred grandsire Poet.
