Eligius was the Reserve Champion at the 1982 Neumünster approvals. He was imported in January of 1984 and stood for Merry Farm, Doornhof Farm and Trakehner Stallion Station in VT and NY. In 1987 he was aquired by Barbara Hamilton who stood him at her Evensong Farm until 1998. He stood briefly for Joe Pimentel until his death in late 1998. Comments from Dr. v. Velsen: In a special way, Eligius represents breed type, significance, leanness and toughness - characteristics that have always been important in the Trakehner breed. His way of going with respect to stride-out and ground covered is exemplary. Reserve Champion 1982 Neumunster. Son of Mackensen, 1978 Neumunster Champion. One of five stallions named Class I breeding stallion at November 1983 performance test. Reserve Champion, Trakehner breeding horses under saddle, Germany, June 1983.
