Hirtenstern is by the Elite stallion Hirtentanz who has produced numerous upper level performance horses in eventing and show jumping along with several approved sons including Grand Prix Jumper Ehrentanz *Pg* and Cassios Picasso KD. E.H. Hirtentanz also produced CCI4*-S eventer Ally KGO KD *M*. His dam line carries the genes of Abiza*E*, dam of Olympic gold medalist Abdullah *Pg*E*. His damsire, Heling, produced the 1999 Reserve Champion mare in Schleswig-Holstein. Helings sire, Bukephalos, was himself an international eventer and produced the successful stallion Heinzelmann *Pg* (Storyteller). Helings grandsire, E.H. Consul, has been one of the most influential sires in modern times. He sired numerous Grand Prix dressage horses and international eventers. Hirtensternís dam, Helga GS, is out of the influential mare Haiti *E* by Ameigo *Ps*E*. Ameigo *Ps*E* won the bronze medal at the 1987 Pan Am Games. Haiti *E* has produced numbers upper level horses including CCI4*-S Trakehner stallion Humble GS and ATA approves stallion Hilton GS. Hirtentanz completed his performance requirements and is now competing in show jumping.
