What Is The Futurity Purpose?

The purpose of the ATA Futurity is to encourage the registration and competition of Trakehner horses in North America by identifying and acknowledging the top young horses competing in the various disciplines.

What Horses Are Eligible?

All horses born in 2004 or later and registered in any book of the ATA are eligible to enter the Futurity. The owner must be a member of the ATA when the horse’s nomination is made. Membership must be paid from the time of nomination through the competition year.

A Futurity Nomination Form stating the division(s) entered and a one-time payment for each division of the Futurity entered must be sent to the ATA office. The total nomination fees for each division will be awarded only for that division. You may choose to enter your horse in more than one division. The nomination fee for the first division is $200 in the horse’s weanling/yearling year, $300 in the horse’s two year old year, $400 in the horse’s three year old year or $500 in the horse’s four year old year. Additional divisions may be added for a fee of $200 at any age. The nominations must be received in the ATA office by September 1st.

Payment should be made separately from any other payments made to the ATA. A copy of both sides of the horse’s ATA registration papers or a letter from the ATA office stating that the application is pending must accompany the nomination form and payment. ATA horse registration must be completed before the horse competes. The deadline to enter the In-Hand Division is September 1st of the horse’s two year old year. The deadline to enter the other divisions is September 1st of the horse’s four year old year. Since this is a new program the deadline for this first year will be extended to February 1 st 2009.
