Karneval was approved at Neumünster in 1973 then performance tested in 1975. He stood at various locations in Germany from 1974 until August of 1980, when he was imported to North America. He spent his entire North American stud career at Hamilton Farms in South Hamilton, MA, before being retired sometime after 1992. Comments from Stallion Performance test 1975 at Adelehidsdorf: Walk and canter good. Trot very good, rideability very good. Cross-country test good, jumping aptitude fairly good, temperament satisfactory, character good. Elegant riding horse with effective manners which need sosme emphasis. Compact, pleasing experience with good facial expresssion, a neck that is a bit thick, much shoulder, sloping croup; good muscles; rhythmically swinging movement, toeing in a little in front with steep inner hoof walls that swing outward. Slightly restricted as a breeding stallion as far as his overall format is concerned.
