Target was imported in-utero by Günter Bertelmann, his dam Targa (by Harnisch) was then purchased by the Hollenbachs shortly after her importation. Target was born on Long Lane Farms in February of 1983 and remained there his entire life. In 1985 he was approved by the ATA at the Columbus, OH inspections. He had wins through Preliminary Level eventing until being sidelined by a ligament injury in 1990. On July 4, 2000, Target succumbed to internal bleeding. Comments from Trakehner Hefte: The chestnut stallion appeared still immature but of clear Trakehner type, with a good top line and satisfactory movement.
