Comments:
Pictured here at age one week, TRAVERSE RED (aka "Tobey") is a superb competition or breeding prospect. Elegant and flashy, "Tobey" is a chestnut colt with a large blaze and matching high whites in the back. His conformation is outstanding, with a smooth topline and strong loin connection, powerful hindquarters, ideal angles front and back, and long, straight legs. He is sweet, bold, and very energetic, already showing huge, well-balanced gaits.
True to his name, which means "Sonset's Winner," Tobey's sire is a proven competitor. He evented through Preliminary with many championships to his credit, and also enjoyed a successful career in the jumpers. True to his
breeding, his success in performance reflects his impeccable bloodlines. His sire is the legendary Abdullah—1984 Olympic Gold Medallist and one of the greatest jumping horses of all time—who earned the titles of Elite Stallion and ATA Performance Gold. Sonset's Sieger's dam, Sonset, is by the heralded stallion Habicht. Habicht enjoyed his own eventing career in Europe under Martin Plewa and has established a dynasty of performance talents, including Windfall, Pan-Am Games Gold and Olympic Bronze medal winner in eventing.Tobey's dam, Tarika, is a daughter of our foundation mare Tara vom Castell and the late imported stallion Kaspareit, who was himself competed through the FEI levels and evented through Preliminary. Tarika showed early aptitude for cross-disciplinary performance. Her movement is strong yet elegant (her great potential drawing comments from U.S.D.F. judges Libby Anderson and Sally O'Connor). She was Reserve Champion of her inspection, with a score of 53 from Brad Kerbs, who commented that she was "very correct" with very good legs.
Tobey is a baby athlete, a true future competitor. More information, photos, and video of Tobey may be found at www.atrakehner.com. Reduced pricing for a pre-weaning purchase.
